Carrying banners, flags and posters and accompanied by teachers the students from years 7-9 met with a group of elders from the community at Nowra Bridge.
Nowra High School special education teacher Francesca Pami said the students made their way to Bomaderry Aboriginal Children’s Home in Beinda Street, Bomaderry for a celebratory gathering.
“Nowra High School has 100 indigenous students, 15 per cent of whom are in the special education department,” she said.
“It is really important for the school to be part of celebrations like National Sorry Day to celebrate Aboriginal education.
“Today was about recognising that we did something wrong in the past and to give the students the opportunity to take part in saying sorry.”
